Weber State picks up close 4-3 win over PSU

PORTLAND, Ore - Weber State women's tennis picked up another win in Big Sky Conference play by taking down Portland State in a close 4-3 match.
"We got a fantastic win today," Director of Tennis Brad Ferrerira said. "It was close in the doubles competition but all the girls in the singles stepped up and played very well for us."
Portland State came out strong and swept the doubles competition, giving them the advantage going into singles play.
Agata Bachanek finsihed her No. 1 singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 vitctory tying the match up at 1-1.
Losses at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots finished next put the Wildcats down 3-1.
In the No. 4 spot, Dominique Beauvais lost her second set after winning the first to Sabina-Elena Preda. Beauvais played a very solid third set for the 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win. Her win brought the Wildcats back up to 3-2.
Kristi Elmer lost her first set and was down 3-0 in the second set before she found her groove coming from behind and picking up the second set win. She came out strong in the third set and picked up a 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Siena Peri in the No. 2 spot.
With the score tied it all came down to freshman Morgan Dickason in the No. 6 spot. Dickason came from behind and picked up a 6-2,6-4 win over Taylor Rees. Dickason well played match gave Weber State the 4-3 overall victory over Portland State.
Weber State is now 5-8 overall on the season and 4-1 in Big Sky Conference play. Weber State will next take on Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash. in the final road game of the season.
