Wildcats beat NAU 86-80 for fifth-straight win

OGDEN - Jeremy Senglin had 28 points and made six 3-pointers, and Zach Braxton added a career-high 22 points as Weber State held on to beat Northern Arizona 86-80 Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.
The win is the fifth-straight for Weber State who has won 12 of its last 13 games. The 'Cats are 14-7 overall and remain in first place in the Big Sky at 9-1.
Weber State led by eight points at halftime and started the second half on a 19-9 run, behind 14 points from Senglin in the first five six minutes of the half. WSU led by as many as 21 points with 8:37 to play before the Lumberjacks came charging back. NAU had a 19-8 run to cut the led to 80-70 with 3:41 to play. The Wildcats made four free throws in the final two minutes to hang on for the win.
Senglin's 28 points was just one off his season-high. He finished the night 10-of-18 from the field, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. He continues to lead the nation in 3-pointers per game at 4.4. He also tied his career-high with eight assists and had three steals.
Senglin also moved closer to becoming the Big Sky's all-time leader in career 3-pointers. The six 3-pointers Saturday gave him 306 for his career. He needs just three more to become the conference's all-time leader.
Braxton's career-high 22 points came on 10-of-14 shooting. He also pulled down 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, while playing 32 minutes.
Senior Kyndahl Hill added nine points, 12 rebounds and a career-high six blocked shots.
Weber State shot 51 percent from the field and held NAU to 43 percent shooting. The Wildcats were 9-of-18 from 3-point range and had 18 assists and nine blocked shots. The Lumberjacks outrebonded the 'Cats 42-37.
Ako Kaluna had 25 points and Jordyn Martin had 17 points and 16 rebounds for NAU who fell to 6-18 overall and 3-8 in conference play.
After three-straight home games, Weber State is back on the road for two games next week, starting Thursday at Sacramento State.
