Weber State women's tennis picked up their second consecutive win by taking down Southern Utah 5-2 Friday afternoon.

"It was a good comeback today after struggling a little with the conditions in the doubles play," said assistant coach Mark Roberts. "SUU are much improved from last year and played a hard fought match. I'm proud of the girls effort and competitiveness today, this match could have easily slipped away from us, but they compete well and found a way to keep the match under control."

Weber State started the match a little lackluster as Eastern Washington quickly picked up the doubles points with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. However, the WIldcats bounced back for several successes in singles play.

Southern Utah started things off with a win in the No. 2 doubles spot. Weber State answered with Caitlin Herb and Sara Parker taking down Evgenia Marushko and Mikala Lowrance in the No. 1 doubles spot with a score of 6-3.

Southern Utah ended up coming up victorious in the No. 3 doubles spot as claiming the doubles point for the match.

Weber State started singles play off a little slow as well falling in the No. 1 spot. That was the only singles loss for the Wildcats as they went on to pick up five more wins.

Devi Hasan was the first to pick up the win by defeating Laura Martin Lozano in the No. 6 spot with scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-0.

Herb defeated Lowrance in the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-4 and was followed by a win by Dominique Beauvais in the No. 3 spot. Beauvias defeated Charity Sagiao 7-6 (4), 6-1.

The final two Wildcats to pick up wins to solidify the WSU victory started with Parker in the No. 4 spot. Parker defeated Cloe Stocking 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1).

Morgan Dickason finsihed things up for Weber State by defeating Tere de Enrique Schmidt in the No. 5 spot with scores of 2-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4.

The Wildcats are now 4-15 overall on the season and 4-6 in Big Sky Conference play. Weber State takes on Northern Arizona tomorrow in the final regular season game of the year.
