Weber State volleyball competed in the second and final day of the Sun Devil Classic at Arizona State and fell to Boise State and North Dakota State both in four sets.

"We played some really talented volleyball teams today and got a good idea what it's going to take to compete with the top of our league," said head coach Jeremiah Larsen. "However, until we can start bringing a consistent effort emotionally and mentally then the outcome will be the same. That is why we schedule such a competitive non conference schedule in order to help us grow."

In the first match of the day the Wildcats took on Boise State. The Broncos got an early 13-8 jump on the Wildcats. Weber State kept chipping away and brought the score within two points with the help of a kill by Aubrey Saunders followed by a block by Saunders. BSU finished it out with a 3-0 run to claim the first set 25-20.

WSU had a slow start in the second set and couldn't manage to string together any runs as Boise State pulled through with a 25-17 second set win and an overall match lead of 2-0.

Early in the third set the Wildcats went on a 6-1 run giving them a 12-7 lead with the help of a kill by Andrea Hale, two blocks by Hannah Hill-DeYoung and a kill by Megan Gneiting. Weber State maintained the lead the entire third set and went on a 4-0 run to kick in the third set 25-17 victory. Weber State now only trailed 1-2 going into the fourth set.

Boise State started off on a 7-1 run in the fourth set. The Wildcats only managed to bring the score within three for the remainder of the set and the Broncos finished it out with a score of 25-18 and a final match score of 3-1.

Weber State was led by Hale who had 12 kills off 37 attacks with only one error for a .297 percentage. Ashlyn Power posted her second consecutive double double with 29 assists and 12 digs. On the defensive side, Hill-DeYoung recorded nine blocks for a new career high and Katelyn Erwin had 14 digs for the game high. Three other Wildcats had double digit digs, Amanda Varley and Jesse Hover each  had 10, while Thamires Cavalcanti added 12.

Against North Dakota State, the Wildcats had another slow start in the first set. NDSU had an 11-3 lead over the Wildcats that carried them to a 25-19 first set win.

In the second set the Wildcats struggled to find any footing and the Bison took off for a 25-11 second set win. The third set Weber State found some momentum and ran with it. Weber State went on a 6-0 run with the help of two kills by Varley to take the lead for the first time in the entire match.
Weber State ended the third set with a 25-21 victory with a big kill by Hale. In the fourth set, Weber State kept things locked in with the two teams within two points the entire set. Kills by Varley and Hale and a Bison error tied everything up at 24-24. Two Bison kills ended the match giving NDSU the 26-24 set victory and 3-1 match victory.

Hale and Varley each had 17 kills against NDSU for the game high. Offensively Power had 30 assists to help out the Wildcat efforts. Cavalcanti came up big with 21 digs for Weber State and Hill-DeYoung added four blocks to the defensive efforts.
