Weber State falls 77-68 to Eastern Washington

Weber State women's basketball dropped a tough one to Eastern Washington with a final score of 77-68.

Eastern Washington started the game out with an 11-3 lead. The Wildcats went on a 7-0 run and brought the score within one point with two minute left in the first quarter. EWU managed to propel forward and capture a 21-15 lead over Weber State at the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats went on a 10-2 run in the midst of the second quarter and only trailed by two points. WSU kept things close after that and only trailed 34-33.

The Eagles started the second half with a 10-3 run and pushed through to end the third quarter with a 57-45 lead over WSU.

The closest Weber State could get to Eastern Washington in the fourth quarter was within six points and the Wildcats ultimately fell 77-68.

Weber State was led by Kailie Quinn who had 19 points including five from beyond the arc. Larryn Brooks was close behind with 17 points while Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman and Emily Drake each dropped 11.  Brooks also led the 'Cats with six rebounds. Welch-Coleman came through with five assists on the night.

The Wildcats finished the night shooting 36 percent from the field, 33 percent from the three and 44 percent from the free throw line. WSU had 18 assists, 13 steals, 14 turnovers, and 35 rebounds.


Eastern Washington's Delaney Hodgins rocked 30 points against the Wildcats. The Eagles shot 42 percent from the field, 18 percent from the three and 70 percent from the free throw line. EWU had 12 assists, 19 turnovers, seven steals, and 53 rebounds.

WSU is now 17-9 overall on the season and 9-6 in Big Sky Conference play. With the Big Sky Championships looming just two weeks out, Weber State is sitting tied with Eastern Washington in the No 4 spot.

Weber State will remain on the road for the final road game of the season to take on Idaho Saturday, Feb. 24 at 3:00 p.m. MT.
