Wildcats beat UND for sixth-straight win

OGDEN - Zach Braxton had 22 points, Jerrick Harding added 21 and Brekkott Chapman posted a double-double as Weber State won its sixth-straight game with an 84-76 win over North Dakota Thursday night at the Dee Events Center.

The win avenged WSU's last loss which was Jan. 13 to North Dakota in Grand Forks. WSU is now 16-7 overall and 9-2 in Big Sky play. The 'Cats have won six-straight and nine of their last 10.

UND led by as many as five points in the first half before WSU took a 31-29 lead at the break. The game was tied 53-53 with 10:24 to play when Weber State went on an 8-0 run. It was tied again at 69-69 with 2:44 left, but the Wildcats went on an 8-2 run and the WSU made seven free throws in the final 40 seconds to seal the win, which snapped a four-game losing steak to North Dakota.

The Wildcats shot 52 percent from the field and held the Fighting Hawks to 45 percent shooting. WSU also outrebounded UND 36-29 and shot 76 percent from the free throw line. The 'Cats also had five blocked shots.

Weber State improved to 8-0 in Big Sky games when four players score in double figures. Braxton tied his career-high with 22 points on 8 of 13 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Harding added 21 with 14 coming in the second half.

Brekkott Chapman had a strong night, finishing with 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the year, to go along with five assists and three blocked shots. Ryan Richardson scored in double figures for the 15th straight game as he finished with 12 points.

The 'Cats improved to 11-1 at home this season. WSU will be back home Saturday night to host Northern Colorado at 7 p.m.
