Wildcats beat Bears to move into first-place

OGDEN - Five players scored in double figures as Weber State took over sole possession of first place in the Big Sky with a 78-64 win over Northern Colorado Saturday night at the Dee Events Center.
With the win, Weber State improved to 12-6 overall and 6-1 in Big Sky play after their third-straight victory.
The Bears held a 31-29 lead at halftime but Brekkott Chapman opened the second half with a three-pointer and Weber State never trailed the rest of the way. After a 9-3 run gave WSU a 10-point lead with 13:23 to play, Northern Colorado was never closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Weber State shot 55 percent from the field, the third-straight game shooting 50 percent or better. The Wildcats held UNC to 37 percent shooting and held the Bears to just 5 of 19 shooting from 3-point land.
The Wildcats also had 13 assists with seven steals and seven blocks and knocked down nine 3-pointers.
Individually, Cody John led Weber State was 20 points along with three assists and two steals. Jerrick Harding added 16 points with three assists, two blocks and a steal.
Sophomore Michal Kozak came off the bench for 12 points on 5 of 6 shooting and tied his season-high with eight rebounds and had two blocks. Brekkott Chapman added 11 points and freshman Caleb Nero had 10 points and a career-high four assists.
"This was definitely a team win for us tonight and they kept fighting and found a way," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "We played aggression and played well defensively and showed a lot of poise."
The Wildcats now hit the road for two games next week playing at Montana State on Thursday and at Montana on Saturday.
