SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Weber State University men's tennis team took on the University of Utah Saturday morning and despite some strong efforts fell 6-1.
Utah made a clean sweep of the doubles matches. The Utes came away with all three possible victories giving them the doubles point advantage going into singles play. Â
On the singles side, in the No. 1 spot Kris van Wyk played a tight match against Utah's Dan Little, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-3.Â
Junior, Junhao Ye played in the No. 3 spot against Randy Cory. Ye fell 6-4 in the first set and was up 5-3 in the second before the match was retired. Ye ended up winning by retirement giving the Wildcats their lone point of the match.Â
Nick Werner had a strong start in his match against Mathias Gavelin in the No. 5 spot but couldn't quite finish as he fell 6-4, 6-1.Â
WSU is now 0-3 on the season. They will next take on Denver Saturday, January 26, before they head to Las Vegas for the UNLV tournament on February 1.Â
