Weber State picks up great three set win over Montana State

OGDEN - Weber State volleyball picked up a great three set victory over Montana State Thursday night.
What Head Coach Jeremiah Larsen said: "We found a composure that we haven't seen in a while. It was a great effort in a very hostile environment against a solid volleyball team."
How it happened: Weber State started the set trailing 6-3 but came back and tied it up at 10-10. The first set remained neck and neck until the very end of the first set. Rylin Roberts slammed a kill to tie the set up 23-23. To win the first set for WSU, Megan Gneiting had back-to-back kills for a 25-23 win.
In the second set, Weber State didn't waste any time taking the lead as they jumped out to an early 12-5 lead. Montana State later answered with a 9-0 run and not only tied the game but took an 18-16 lead over the Wildcats. Gneiting put an end to the Bobcats hot streak with a kill that then sparked a 7-0 Wildcat run pushing WSU to a 23-18 lead. Aubrey Adams helped WSU with a kill for a sideout point taking WSU to set point.
Roberts executed set point for WSU with a kill and WSU claimed the second set 25-20 and a took a match lead of 2-0.
The Wildcats took a 10-7 lead over the Bobcats early in the third set but MSU did not go down without a fight. Later in the set, MSU went on an 8-1 run to take a 16-12 lead. The two teams leaped frogged until the game was all tied up at 21-21. Weber State reached set point first thanks to another kill by Gneiting. To take home the win, Gneiting had another kill and WSU won 25-23.
Killing It: There were three Wildcats who rocked double digit kills. Gneiting led the way with 18 kills from 37 attacks with six errors for a .324 hitting percentage. Dani Nay was not far behind with 15 kills from 29 attacks with five errors. Rylin Roberts was the final Wildcat to rock double digit kills with 12 on the night.
WSU ended the night with 57 total kills from 126 swings with 17 errors for a solid .317 percentage.
The kills and points would be nothing without a little help and set up. Ashlyn Power continued to contribute as she helped out Weber State with 48 assists.
Digging it: The lucky number for WSU was three tonight. Three set, three killers in double digits and digs was no different. Three Wildcats put up double digit digs. Power led the way with 15 and Roberts was not far behind with 14. Helena Khouri added 12. In total WSU racked up 60 digs.
Blocking it: Gneiting led the way on the net for the defensive side as she ended the night with four blocks.
Doubling it: Weber State had two Wildcats with double-doubles. Power had her eighth on the year with 48 assists and 15 digs. Roberts was the other Wildcat with a double-double, her first on the year with 12 kills and 14 digs.
Notes to know: Weber State is now 12-6 overall on the season and are 3-4 in Big Sky Conference play.
Next Up: WSU will stay on the road to take on the Grizzlies of Montana on Saturday.
