Weber State picks up four set win over Montana

OGDEN - Weber State volleyball down the University of Montana Saturday evening in four sets to put the Wildcats back on track with an even 4-4 Big Sky Conference record.
What Head Coach Jeremiah Larsen said: "We played hard and had a lot of good things that came out of this weekend. There are still some holes in our game we need to fill in order for us to compete. We are growing, moving in the right direction and looking forward to this next week."
How it happened: Weber State had a slow start in the first set, falling behind 9-3. The Wildcats trailed by seven, and Sam Schiess and Megan Gneiting had a block that sparked a fire in Weber State. WSU went on a 10-1 run that tied the match and gave the Wildcats a three point lead. WSU went on a 4-0 run to take a 23-17 lead over the Griz. To close out the set, Schiess rocked back-to-back kills and WSU came out with a 23-18 victory.
In the second set, WSU flipped the table by taking a 9-3 lead over the Griz. Later in the set, the Wildcats went on a 7-0 run to take a 22-12 lead. Gneiting had back-to-back kills to take it to set point. Rylin Roberts finished it off with a kill and WSU picked up a 25-15 win.
The two teams leap frogged early in the set but both teams came remained close in score. Late in the set it was tied 19-19. Dani Nay had two straight kills to push WSU to a 21-19 lead. Montana came back with a big surge and claimed the third set 25-23.
In the fourth set, Weber State came out with a vengeance for a 6-1 lead. WSU never looked back and finished the fourth set with a 25-15 score.
Killing It: Nay led the way with 16 kills from 32 attacks with four errors for a .375 percentage. Roberts ended the night with 15 kills and Gneiting rocked 12. In total, Weber State had 60 kills from 136 with 15 errors for .331 percentage.
Ashlyn Power contributed 46 assists to WSU's offensive performance.
Digging it: WSU had three put up double-digit digs. Helena Khouri led WSU with 14 while Power and Roberts each added 11. The Wildcats ended up having 51 digs total.
Blocking it: Gneiting led the way on the net for the defensive side as she ended the night with seven blocks. Weber State ended up having 11 total team blocks.
Doubling it: Weber State had two Wildcats with double-doubles. Power had her ninth on the year with 46 assists and 11digs. Roberts was the other Wildcat with a double-double, her second on the year with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Notes to know: Weber State now advances to 13-6 overall on the season and have broke even in Big Sky play with a 4-4 record.
Next Up: WSU will return home for one game on Oct. 24 hosting Idaho before hitting the road Oct. 26 to take on Eastern Washington.
