Wildcats win fifth-straight 36-20 at UC Davis

Weber State junior Trey Tuttle connected on five field goals, tying a school-record and the Wildcats held UC Davis to a season-low 204 yards of offense.Â

The Wildcats ran 92 total plays and held the ball for 41:53, compared to 46 plays and 18:07 time of possession for UC Davis.Â

The Wildcats scored on their opening drive, capped by a two-yard run by Josh Davis but UC Davis' Jaylin White returned the ensuing kickoff 100-yards for a touchdown to tie the game up.Â

It was then Trey Tuttle who had three field goals in the second quarter to make it 16-7 Wildcats at the break.Â

The Wildcats forced and recovered the opening second half kickoff and Tuttle connected again on a field goal to make it 19-7.Â

After a UC Davis touchdown, the Wildcats went on an 8-play, 75-yard drive, capped by a five-yard touchdown from Kevin Smith Jr. to make it 26-14.Â

Tuttle made a 39-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter. The five field goals ties the school record held by Scott Shields in 1997.
WSU capped the scoring with a 26-yard pass from Jake Constanine to Devon Cooley with 3:44 to play. Â

Jake Constantine threw for a season-high 275 yards, finishing the day 25 of 39 passing with one touchdown. Â

Devon Cooley had seven catches for 104 yards and the touchdown and David Ames had seven catches for 54 yards.Â

Josh Davis led the rushing attack with 16 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown. Davis also became the 11th player in Weber State history to reach 2,000 career rushing yards and accomplished the feat in just 21 career games.Â

Smith had 16 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown and Kris Jackson had 10 carries for 35 yards.Â

The Wildcat defense forced three Aggie turnovers and recorded three sacks. Jared Schiess had four tackles with two tackles for loss and a sack. Adam Rodriguez and Sione Lapuaho each also recorded sacks. Eddie Heckard had an interception and George Tarlas and Lapuaho each forced fumbles.Â

The win moves Weber State to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats are tied with Sacramento State for first in the league standings. The 'Cats and Hornets will meet in a nationally-ranked showdown next Saturday in Sacramento.Â
