Weber State battled in 94-41 loss to Washington

OGDEN – Weber State women's basketball took on it's second Pac-12 opponent Wednesday morning and fell 94-41 to the University of Washington. 

How it happened: In the first quarter Weber State started out strong. Ciara James worked the post for a made layup to put the Wildcats on the board. Washington had an 8-2 run in the last part of the first quarter to give the Huskies a 14-6 lead over the Wildcats. 

Late in the second quarter, Washington took all the momentum away from Weber State. UW went on a 9-0 run to end the half and took a 36-13 lead over WSU. 

The Wildcat offense kicked into gear in the third quarter as it proved to be WSU's highest scoring quarter. Weber State put up 18 points in the third quarter. Ula Chamberlin found momentum putting up seven points in the third. 

WSU went scoreless for the first four minutes of the fourth quarter. Shyanne Loiland broke the streak by sinking a three pointer. The Huskies never turned the pressure off of the Wildcats as the fourth quarter wound down and Washington went on to win 94-41. 

Leaders: Weber State was led by Chamberlin who had 10 points. Daryn Hickok added seven and Ciara James added six points. Loiland ended the game with five points, the most for her, so far this season. 

James led WSU on the boards, assists and steals, recording six rebounds, three assists and three steals. 

Comparison: Weber State shot 32 percent from the field, 20  percent from beyond the arc and 75 percent from the free throw line. The Wildcats ended the night with 31 rebounds, 10 assists, seven steals and 38 turnovers. Weber State scored 20 points in the paint, seven from second chances and 14 off the bench. 

Washington shot 54 percent from the field, 47 percent from the three and 78 percent from the free-throw line. The Huskies ended the night with 32 rebounds, 20 assists and 17 turnovers. UW scored 36 points in the paint and 46 off the bench. 

Up Next: Weber State will take a week off before getting back on the road to take on Pacific on Nov. 21.
