Weber State downs Montana State in thrilling three set match

OGDEN - Weber State volleyball concluded the 2019 regular season with a three set win over Montana State.
What head coach Jeremiah Larsen said: "It's always nice to win for your seniors. I thought we played really well for three straight sets and beat a really nice Montana State team."
How it happened: The first set was a nail biter. Both teams taking turns capturing the lead. There were 12 tied scores and five lead changes throughout the first game. To end the first set, Dani Nay had a kill to take WSU to set point with a narrow 24-23 lead. MSU tied the set at 24-24 and thanks to a Bobcat error and a big kill from Megan Gneiting, Weber State claimed the first set 26-24.
Later in the second set, Weber State stole the momentum and went on an 11-2 run to take an 18-10 lead over Montana State. In the second set, Weber State really found strength in their attacks. WUS had 14 kills and hit .345 in the second set.
For the second time in the match, Nay slammed a kill to put WSU at set point. Montana State had an error to give WSU the 25-18 win.
Montana State jumped out to a 10-4 lead over WSU in the third set. The Wildcats went on a 7-1 run to tie the set at 11-11. The Bobcats didn't let the Wildcats keep the momentum long as they pushed on for a 17-12 lead over WSU. Weber State persevered with a 7-2 run to tie the game back up at 20-20.
The home stretch of set four was intense to say the least. The packed house all on their feet cheering on the Wildcats as they came up with point after point to come back and take the 25-22 third set win.
Killing It: Weber State was led by Megan Gneiting and Dani Nay who each had 10 kills a piece. Gneiting finished the night hitting .500 with her 10 kills from 18 attacks and only one error.
In total, Weber State had 43 kills from 109 attacks and 17 errors for a .239 percentage..
Digging it: WSU ended the night with 46 total digs. Helena Khouri and Ashlyn Power each had 11 digs.
Doubling it: Ashlyn Power recorded a double-double on the night with 37 assists and 11 digs.
Blocking it: Weber State's wall on the net was out in full force as WSU had 14 total team blocks. Hannah DeYoung led WSU with six block assists. Aubrey Adams was right with her with six total blocks, including two solos. Megan Gneiting also had a great night on the net with five blocks.
Notes to know: WSU is now 22-7 overall on the season and 13-5 in Big Sky play. The Wildcats have won 11 of the last 12 matches.
Next Up: Weber State is headed to the Big Sky tournament which starts Nov. 28 in Sacramento, Calif.
