Damian Lillard named to inaugural Big Sky Hall of Fame Class

Weber State legend Damian Lillard has been named to the 14-member inaugural Big Sky Conference Hall of Fame Class, presented by Jimmy John's.Â

The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 14 at the Big Sky Championships in Boise, Idaho.Â
Â
Lillard is the only men's basketball player in the inaugural class. He's the only player in Big Sky history to be named to an All-America team. He earned third-team All-America honors in 2012 after an historic final season at Weber State, where he finished second in the nation in scoring at 24.5 points per game, the best in WSU history. Â

Lillard played four years at Weber State from 2008-12 and totaled 1,934 points, currently third in Weber State history. He as a two-time Big Sky MVP, winning the honor in 2010 and 2012 and was a three-time first-team All-Big Sky selection. He also won Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors in 2009.Â

He guided the Wildcats to two Big Sky titles in 2009 and 2010 and played in 103 career games for coach Randy Rahe at Weber State. He ranks in the WSU career top 10 in several categories and is still Weber State's all-time leader in career free throws made with 520, is second in career free throw percentage and career assists, and ranks third in career 3-pointers.Â

After leaving Weber State, he was the sixth pick of the 2012 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, the highest selection in Big Sky history. He won the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2013 and is a four-time NBA All-Star and a four-time All-NBA selection, including first-team in 2018. He's also been named one of the most recognizable athletes in the world.Â

Lillard has remained close to Weber State. He graduated from WSU in May 2015 and has also hosted three Weber State Men's Basketball Alumni Classics. His jersey was retired at Weber State in August 2017.Â

Lillard is the only Weber State athlete named to the class. The honorees represent 10 different sports. Six men's and four women's student-athletes and four coaches/administrators comprise the 2020 Big Sky Hall of Fame Class.
