WSU falls 75-46 to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – Weber State women's basketball finished out the non-conference season with a 75-46 loss to Utah Friday afternoon.
How it happened: Weber State started the first quarter hanging tight to the Utes trailing only 6-4 after the first four minutes. Utah ended the first on a 10-3 run over WSU to take an 18-7 lead.
In the second quarter Weber State picked up their defensive efforts by holding Utah to just five points throughout six minutes of the second quarter. WSU ended the second quarter outscoring Utah 15-14. However, the Wildcats trailed 32-22 at the half.
The Wildcats stuck with the Utes in the third quarter only being outscored 18-14 in the third. WSU wasn't able to make any dents in the score deficit as they were down 50-36 going into the final quarter of play.
Utah came out firing in the final quarter and pushed on for a 75-46 Win over the Wildcats.
Leaders: Liz Graves continued to show her strength as she led WSU with 21 points. She went 3-5 from the three and went 12-13 from the free throw line. Kori Pentzer was the next highest score as she had nine points. Jadyn Matthews dominated the boards for the Wildcats with 11 for a career high.
Comparison: Weber State shot 25 percent from the field, 43 percent from the three and 71 from the free throw line. WSU had 10 points in the paint. Weber State ended the game with 38 rebounds, eight assists, nine steals and 29 turnovers.
Utah shot 44 percent from the field, 24 percent from the three and 57 percent from the line. The Utes had 44 points in the paint. Utah ended the game with 44 total rebounds, 20 assists, 12 steals and 16 turnovers.
Notes to know: Weber State is now 2-7 overall on the season.
