OGDEN - Weber State rallied from a 20-point first half deficit and cut the lead to one point, but in the end it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fell 83-80 to the Montana Grizzlies Thursday night at the Dee Events Center.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 15-10 on the season and 9-5 in Big Sky play, while Montana improves to 18-6 and 11-2 with its eighth straight victory.

It was all Montana in the first half as the Grizzlies jumped out to a 20-point lead after shooting 50 percent from the field and holding the Wildcats to 28 percent shooting.

Weber State came out roaring in the second half and scored 56 points and shot 58 percent from the field. The Wildcats chipped away at the Montana lead and cut the lead to three points with 2:22 to play. The got to within one point with 57 seconds and then again with 14 seconds to play after a Cody John layup. After two Montana free throws, the 'Cats were unable to score in the final seconds.

"It was almost the same script as the first game with Montana," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "We came out slow and they were faster and were the more aggressive team, we were more aggressive in the second half. We are an up and down team and we have to figure out the consistency and put a full game together."

Montana finished the game shooting 47 percent from the field, compared to 44 percent for the Wildcats. The Grizzlies outrebounded the 'Cats 41-28 and had 12 offensive rebounds and finished with 16 second chance points.

Jerrick Harding finished with 30 points, his fourth game this season with 30 points, and 27 of his points came in the second half. He finished the game 9 of 17 from the field and 11 of 13 from the free throw line, along with three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Harding also moved past Joel Bolomboy into eighth place on the Weber State career scoring list.

Brekkott Chapman added 20 points and a team-high nine rebounds and knocked down five 3-pointers. Cody John finished with 16 points for the Wildcats who were without senior Zach Braxton who is out with an ankle injury.

The Wildcats are right back home Saturday night to host Montana State at the Dee Events Center.
