OPENING DRIVE

• Weber State is coming off a 6-0 loss at San Diego State in the season opener Saturday.

• The Wildcats are ranked seventh in the nation in the latest STATS FCS poll. WSU is coming off the two best seasons in school history. Weber State has won back-to-back Big Sky Conference titles for the first time in school history, and has advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS Playoffs in each of the past two seasons.

• Cal Poly is 1-0 on the year after a 52-34 win over San Diego in the season opener. The Mustangs were picked to finish ninth in the Big Sky standings this season.

• The Mustangs are coached by longtime Big Sky coach Tim Walsh. Cal Poly freshman quarterback Jalen Hamler was named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week.

• Saturday's game is the home opener. The Wildcats have won nine of their last 10 and 12 of the last 14 games at Stewart Stadium.

• Head coach Jay Hill is his sixth season as head coach of the Wildcats. Hill has a career record of 36-27 at Weber State.

• Even though both teams are members of the Big Sky Conference, Saturday's game will be a non-conference game and will not count in the Big Sky standings.

• This will be the 15th all-time meeting between the two schools, with Weber State holding a 8-6 all-time series lead. The Wildcats are 4-3 against the Mustangs in Ogden.

• This season Weber State is celebrating the 100th anniversary of football at Weber State and the 150th anniversary of college football.
