'Cats fall 91-67 to Hornets

OGDEN – Weber State women's basketball had a strong first half but lagged in the second half as they fell 91-67 to Sac State Saturday afternoon.
How it happened: Weber State jumped out to an early 16-12 lead in the first quarter but Sac State came back with a 14-4 run to take a 26-20 lead as the first quarter ended.
The Wildcats kept pushing in the second quarter and shrunk the score deficit to just three points. Sac State outscored WSU 31-28 in the second quarter and had a 57-48 lead over Weber State at the half.
Sac State took control of the game in the second half and came up with a 14-2 run late in the third quarter to push them to an 80-60 lead over WSU.
Weber State dragged in the fourth quarter only scoring seven points and the Hornets came away with a 91-67 victory.
Leaders: For the third consecutive game WSU had four Wildcats score in double figures. WSU was led by Kayla Watkins who had 17 points. Daryn Hickok had 12 while Kori Pentzer and Ula Chamberlin each added 10. Pentzer led WSU on the boards pulling down eight.
Comparison: Weber State shot 38 percent from the field, 29 percent from the three and 70 percent from the free throw line. WSU ended the game with 38 total rebounds. WSU had 32 points in the paint and 20 off of the bench.
Sacramento State shot 48 percent from the field, 37 percent from the three point line and 80 percent from the line. The Hornets ended the night with 28 total rebounds. Sac had 42 points in the paint and 12 off of the bench.
Notes to know: Weber State is now 3-11 overall on the season and 1-4 in Big Sky Conference play.
