Wildcats finish season ranked third in national polls

OGDEN - After another historic year, Weber State football has finished the season with its highest ranking in school history. 
 
The Wildcats finished the 2019 season ranked third in the country in the FCS STATS media poll and the AFCA Coaches poll. The third-place ranking is the highest-ranking to end a season in school history. WSU was the highest-ranked team from the Big Sky. National champion North Dakota State finished first, with runner-up James Madison second.  
 
Weber State has been ranked in at least one of the polls every week since November 2016. The 'Cats have been ranked in the top 10 in the country in 22 straight polls, including every week this season. 
 
The third-place national ranking is also tied for the highest ranking in school history. 
 
It was another historic season in 2019 as the Wildcats finished 11-4 overall and won their third-straight Big Sky title with a 7-1 record. The 11 wins are tied for the most victories in school history and the Wildcats earned the No. 3 seed in the FCS Playoffs. 
 
Weber State defeated Kennesaw State and Montana in the playoffs and advanced to the FCS Semifinals for the first time in school history. 
 
Head coach Jay Hill was named the AFCA Region 5 Coach of the Year and the Wildcats had a league-best 14 players earn Big Sky All-Conference honors. Five Wildcats earned first-team honors, including senior Jonah Williams who was named Big Sky Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
