Wildcats pick up big road win at Southern Utah

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Jerrick Harding scored 27 points and Cody John added 22 as Weber State picked up a big 75-65 road win at Southern Utah Thursday night at the America First Events Center. 

How it happened
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 14-6 lead and led by as many as 13 points at 24-11 with six minutes left in the half. SUU cut the lead to four but the 'Cats led 32-26 at halftime. 

SUU cut the lead to three points early in the second half before an 11-2 run gave the Wildcats a 50-38 lead with 11:31 to play. 

The Thunderbirds cut the lead to five points again with four minutes to play before a 12-0 Wildcat run broke the game open for Weber State. 

Inside the stats
Weber State shot 56 percent from the field and held the Thunderbirds to 36 percent shooting. WSU was 5 of 14 from 3-point range and held SUU to 6 of 25 shooting from beyond the arc. The Wildcats were also 14 of 19 from the free throw line and had seven blocked shots.  

Harding was 9 for 16 from the field with two 3-pointers and was 7 of 7 from the free throw line for his 27 points. He also added six rebounds and three assists. It was his fifth-straight game scoring 20 or more points. 

John was 7 of 9 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line for his 22 points, his third highest total of the year. 

Tim Fuller added 11 points on 5 of 8 shooting, tied his career-high with nine rebounds and had three blocked shots. Michal Kozak and KJ Cunningham each had six points. 

Scoring milestone
With his 27 points, Jerrick Harding moved past Bruce Collins into second place on the Weber State career scoring list. He now has 2,042 career points in 112 games at Weber State and needs 37 more points to move past Jeremy Senglin and become WSU's all-time leading scorer. 

Up next 
The Wildcats improve to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in Big Sky play and Thursday's game marked the halfway point of conference action. The Wildcats begin the second half of league play Saturday night at Northern Colorado.
