WSU struggled with momentum falling to SUU 87-71

OGDEN – Daryn Hickok had a career breaking night with 30 points in Weber State women's basketball 87-71 loss to Southern Utah.
How it happened:The Wildcats were the first to get on the board with a fast break layup by Hickok. After that Southern Utah controlled the first quarter to take a 22-11 lead.
Weber State started the second quarter on a 6-0 run over Southern Utah and held the T-Birds scoreless for three minutes. Southern Utah cracked down and ran away to take a 40-26 lead over the WSU at halftime.
The third quarter was the best for WSU as they went on to outscore SUU 24-23. Weber State shot 53 percent from the field that quarter with Hickok going 5-5.
SUU pushed for their biggest lead of the game in the fourth quarter but WSU managed to cut it back down. WSU went 6-8 to end the game, however, it wasn't enough and Weber State fell 87-71. Hickok went off in the second half for 24 points.
Leaders: The Wildcats were led by Daryn Hickok who had a career high of 30 points. She went 9-11 from the field and 12-17 from the freethrow line. Jadyn Matthews led WSU on the boards pulling down seven on the night.
Comparison: Weber State shot 49 percent from the field, 22 percent from the three and 67 percent from the free throw line. WSU ended the game with 27 total rebounds, 22 turnovers and eight assists. WSU had 36 points in the paint and 22 off the bench.
Southern Utah shot 55 percent from the field, 41 percent from the three point line and 80 percent from the line. The T-Birds ended the night with 25 total rebounds, 13 assists and 18 turnovers. SUU had 34 points in the paint and 21off the bench and capitalized on 26 points off of turnovers.
Notes to know: Weber State is now 3-16 overall on the season and 1-9 in Big Sky Conference play.
