OGDEN - After more than three weeks without a game, the Weber State women's basketball team returned to action Thursday afternoon but the Wildcats fell 77-60 to Idaho State in the New Year's Eve matinee at the Dee Events Center.Â
Â
The Bengals never trailed in the game and jumped out to a 22-14 lead after the first quarter, and led 40-32 at halftime. The 'Cats cut the lead to nine late in the third quarter, before an ISU run sealed the win.Â
Â
Idaho State shot 39 percent from the field, while Weber State shot 34 percent. The Bengals outrebounded the Wildcats 45-24 and ISU had 27 second chance points.Â
Â
The Wildcats did set a school record. WSU was a perfect 17 of 17 from the free throw line, the best free throw performance in school history.Â
Â
Individually, the Wildcats were led by Shianne Johnson with 12 points, while Dominique Williams added 10.Â
Â
Both teams struggled with the ball as ISU had 23 turnovers and the Wildcats committed 20.Â
Â
It was Weber State's first game since Dec. 6 and was the first Big Sky game of the season for the Wildcats.Â
Â
The 'Cats and Bengals will be right back at it again on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Pocatello. That will be the first of four-straight road games for Weber State.
