Trey Deveraux earns All-America honors in pole vault

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Weber State track and field's Trey Deveraux received 2020 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field All-American honors in the pole vault from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on May 26, 2020. Deveraux joins an elite number of Weber State track and field athletes who have received this accolade.Â

The honors of All-America usually happen at the NCAA Championships, however due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the cancellation of the championship this year, the USTFCCCA decided to reconfigure its program for the season. The championships were to be held March 13-14 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The qualifications to earn All-America this year required athletes to be listed on the start list for the national championship. There is no distinction between first, second, or honorable mention teams, rather just an All-American list.

Trey Deveraux ended the Wildcat's 12-year drought at the indoor championships and is the first Weber State athlete to earn the honor during the indoor season since 2008. Deveraux earned a spot at the championships with a mark of 17-9 (5.41m) in the pole vault competition. He is the first Weber State athlete to earn All-American in the pole vault in the indoor track and field season, and the 11thWildcat to earn this accolade in indoor track and field.Â
