Women's indoor track and field perform well at BYU Invitational

PROVO, UT - The Wildcat women's team showed well at the BYU Collegiate Cougar Indoor Invitational hosted by BYU in Provo, Utah this weekend. The invitational was held at BYU Smith Field House.

"We had really good performances for our first meet in 11 months, and having not been totally race sharp yet," said women's head coach, Paul Pilkington. "I was happy with how the women performed."

In the 400 meter, Shelby Andrewsen earned 5th place with a time of 1:00.59. Kate Sorensen earned second place in the women's 60 m hurdles with a time of 8.51, matching her best that earned her the third best time in WSU history. Cidnee Davies-Bohn finished with a time of 9.08 to earn fifth place, and Isabelle Geddes finished in ninth with a time of 9.40. 

Kate Sorenson also performed very well in the 200 meter final, earning the third place spot with a time of 24.73. Sorenson's score earned her a lifetime best. Ashlynn Campos finished with a time of 26.51, Riley Roberts at 27.03, and Amy Frank at 27.28. 

Summer Allen earned third place and is now #7 on the WSU All-Time list in the 3,000 meter timed finals with a time of 9:41.11, after sitting out a season. She is currently ranked 8th in the NCAA in the 3,000 meters. Billie Hatch, a transfer graduate student, finished seventh with a PR time of 9:53.87. Hatch is currently 17th in the NCAA in the 3,000 meters.

Cidnee Davies-Bohn performed well in the women's long jump, earning third place with a 17-09.00 jump. In the women's high jump final, Eden Deveraux earned second place with a 5-05.25.

Sophomore Kapua Pulotu placed second in the shot put with a lifetime best throw of 45-09.50. Pulotu's performance in the shot put earned her the 9th place spot on the Weber State All-Time records. In the weight throw finals, Sophie Herbert threw a distance of 52-06 to earn second place.

There were many WSU student-athletes who competed and placed unattached. 

The women's indoor track and field student-athletes will return to action on January 23, 2021, when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado to compete in the Air Force Invitational. Go Wildcats!
