PROVO, UT - The Wildcat men's team competed well at the BYU Collegiate Cougar Indoor Invitational hosted by BYU in Provo, Utah this weekend. The invitational was held at BYU Smith Field House.

"It was so awesome to be competing again," said head men's coach, Corbin Talley. "Toeing the lines, getting in the blocks, standing in the ring, staring down the runway. The nerves, the excitement, the butterflies, all back again. It was a great opportunity to be reminded of what we train and sacrifice for--as individuals and as a team."

In the 60 meter hurdles, Cyrus Ridlishbacher earned first place with a time of 8.16, earning the eighth-best time in Weber State history. In the men's 60 meter dash, Isaac Tillett earned fifth with a time of 7.03; Cade Palmer took sixth at 7.05; and Xakai Harry finished seventh with a time of 7.09.

Matt Masias performed well in the 800 meter finals, finishing in third place with a time of 1:57.25; Bryce Anderson finished fifth at 1:57.72; and Russel Lundberg finished eighth with a time of 2:00.07. In the 200 meter finals, Isaac Tillett finished in fifth with a time of 22.21; and Alex Wheeler finished ninth at 23.24.

Taylor Dillon placed fifth in the 3,000 meter timed finals with a time of 8:21.55, this also put him in 14th in the NCAA. Austin Bryer finished eighth at 8:24.37, which also ranked him nationally at 18th.

Weber State team "A", comprised of Cyrus Rindlisbacher, Johnie Talamantes, Matt Masias, and Isaac Tillett, earned third place in the men's 4x400 with a time of 3:23.59.

The 'Cats performed well in the field events, too. Xakai Harry placed third in the long jump, with a jump of 23-04.25, earning him a nationally-ranked spot of 36th. Ryan Shearman finished sixth in the pole vault final with a vault of 15-05.00. In the high jump, Anthony Garcia finished eighth with a jump of 6-07.25, placing him 46th in the NCAA.

There were many WSU student-athletes who competed and placed unattached.

"We had some strong performances and we had some struggles, but overall we're just excited and grateful to be in a position to compete," said Talley.

The men's indoor track and field student-athletes will return to action on January 23, 2021, when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado to compete in the Air Force Invitational. Go Wildcats!
