CEDAR CITY - Weber State made a big third quarter rally but it wasn't enough in the end as the Wildcats fell 77-68 at Southern Utah Thursday night in Cedar City.
The Wildcats trailed 44-28 at halftime but rallied with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Thunderbirds 26-13 in the third quarter to cut the SUU lead to three points at 57-54.
The 'Cats trailed by two points with 4:21 to play but SUU responded with an 8-2 run to seal the win.
SUU shot 43 percent from the field, compared to 38 percent for the Wildcats. WSU also outrebounded the Thunderbirds 37-32.
The Wildcats were led by junior Kori Pentzer who posted a career-high 21 points. She was 8 of 19 from the field, and knocked down four 3-pointers.
Aloma Solovi added a season-high 11 points and dished out three assists. Dominique Williams and Emma Torbert each added nine points and six rebounds.
The same two teams will meet Saturday at noon at the Dee Events Center. After four-straight games on the road, the Wildcats return for three-straight at home. The game will stream online on Pluto TV 1054.
