Wildcats fall to Thunderbirds in double overtime

OGDEN - Weber State dropped a heartbreaker in double overtime, falling 76-74 to Southern Utah Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center.Â

SUU jumped out to an early 12 point lead but the Wildcats fought back and outscored the Thunderbirds 17-6 in the second quarter and took a 33-30 halftime lead.Â
Â
It was back-and-forth the rest of the way as the game saw 11 ties and four lead changes. It was WSU's first double overtime game in five years.Â
Â
Both teams shot 35 percent from the field. WSU knocked down five 3-pointers and was 19 of 22 from 3-point range.Â

Three Wildcats scored in double figures. Daryn Hickok had 16 points and was 8 of 9 from the free throw line. Jadyn Matthews added 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, to go along with three assists.Â

Shianne Johnson added 10 points off the bench for the Wildcats and Kori Pentzer had eight points and seven rebounds.Â
The Wildcats are back home for two more games next week, hosting the University of Idaho Thursday and Saturday at the Dee Events Center.Â
