Wildcats fall 76-53 to Vandals in Friday night game

1/29/2021 8:04:00 PM | Women's Basketball

OGDEN - Weber State and Idaho didn't know for sure if they would play Friday night until a few hours before tipoff. Thursday's game was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols but the teams were able to add a game Friday.

The Vandals jumped out to a quick start and defeated Weber State 76-53 at the Dee Events Center.

Idaho closed the second quarter on an 11-2 run and took a 36-24 lead at halftime and then started the third quarter on a 10-2 run and led by 20 points at 46-26. WSU was never closer than 12 points the rest of the way and Idaho led by as many as 27 points.

The Wildcats outrebounded the Vandals 46-36 but WSU shot just 4 of 24 from 3-point range, while Idaho was 14 of 43 from beyond the arc.

Jadyn Matthews led Weber State with 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting. Daryn Hickok added nine points off the bench and Shianne Johnson had eight. Beyonce Bea led Idaho with 23 points and eight rebounds.

The same two teams will play Saturday. That game will now begin at 2 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
