Wildcats fall to Vandals 74-62

OGDEN - Weber State took on Idaho for the second time in less than 24 hours. The Wildcats got off to a fast start but the Vandals responded to win the game 74-62 Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center. 
 
The Wildcats jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead. Idaho came back with a 10-2 run to cut the WSU lead to 15-12. Idaho outscored the Wildcats 18-11 in the second quarter and led 30-28 at halftime. 
 
The Vandals had a big third quarter, outscoring WSU 23-13 and the lead was never less than eight points the rest of the way. 
 
Weber State shot a season-best 48 percent from the field and held Idaho to 33 percent shooting. But the Vandals knocked down 10 3-pointers and WSU had 16 turnovers. 
 
Aloma Solovi scored a career-high 14 points and Jadyn Matthews posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 5 of 7 from the field, to lead the Wildcats. Shianne Johnson also scored in double figures with 10 points, while Vicky Parra had eight points and two blocked shots. 
 
The Wildcats will hit the road again for two games next Thursday and Saturday at Montana State.
