Wildcats take down Eagles in season opener

OGDEN, UT - The Wildcats earned their first victory Friday against Eagles 3-1 in Ogden, Utah at the Swenson Gym.
Eastern Washington started out strong in the first set against Weber State, and earned the first set point. The Eagles racked up 12 kills, just four more than the Wildcats. Though the Wildcats had just as many attack attempts as the Eagles in the first set, they were unable to capitalize on their chances. The first set ended 25-18 for the Eagles.
The Wildcats took control in set two, and earned the set victory at 25-15. Weber State had 11 kills, two service aces, and three blocks, and had the momentum moving into set three. The Wildcats went on to earn the third set point 25-21, and the fourth a dominating 25-10.
Many of the Wildcats had great performances, and helped lead the team to victory. Rylin Adams was a big leader on the court, earning 15 kills, four block assists, and 27 digs. Ashlyn Power earned 36 assists and two aces; and Dani Nay played a big role in the attack and defense as well, earning 14 kills, three aces, and 20 digs.
The Wildcats are looking forward to meeting the Eagles again out on the court Saturday, January 23rd, at 4:00 pm in the Swenson Gym. Live streaming of the match will be available at WeberStateSports.com.
