The fun never stops in Big Sky Conference volleyball. After acing its rivalry week test, Weber State Volleyball is heading south this week for what has historically been one of the toughest road trips in the conference. First off, the Wildcats will take on in-state rival Southern Utah in Cedar City, then they head to Flagstaff to play the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.
WEBER STATE
-The Wildcats have won 14 consecutive Big Sky matches dating back to the 2020-21 spring season.
-After sweeping Idaho State and Northern Colorado, Weber State is the last remaining unbeaten team in the conference and is currently in first place in the standings.
-WSU is tied with Northern Colorado atop the Big Sky leaderboard in team hitting percentage at .216.
-Weber State is the top serving team in the conference (2.07 aces/set) and has three players in the conference's top ten in aces per set. Dani Nay leads the Big Sky (.69/set), Ashlyn Power is tied for fourth (.39/set), and Rylin Adams is tenth (.36/set)
-Nay was named Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week after hitting a combined .326 against the Bengals and Bears.
-Nay is currently tied for first in the nation with 42 aces and is fourth in the nation in aces per set (.69/set).
-Adams, who was named an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention in 2020-21, leads the Big Sky in total kills (238) and kills per set (3.90).
-With 5,081 career assists, Power is third in conference history in the rally scoring era. She needs 73 more assists to move into second place.
-Middle blocker Sam Schiess has proven to be an ultra-effective weapon in the Wildcat offense, and is second in the conference in hitting percentage (.333).
-Fabulous freshman Baylee Bodily has made an instant impact in the Wildcat block, and ranks third in the conference in blocks per set (1.13).
SOUTHERN UTAH
-Although the Wildcats hold a 16-10 advantage over SUU in the historical series and have won nine of the last ten against the T-Birds, SUU leads the series in matches played in Cedar City 6-3.
-SUU is one of the best blocking teams in the Big Sky Conference, averaging 2.31 blocks per set.
-Southern Utah's Raegan Ashby and Carissa Richie make a dominant pair in the middle, ranking fourth and fifth respectively in the Big Sky in blocks per set.
-Freshman Calli Johnson has proven that she's one of the best at digs in the conference and holds a 3.79 digs per set average.
NORTHERN ARIZONA
-The last Big Sky Conference game that the Wildcats lost was in the 2020-21 season on the road against Northern Arizona. It was the only conference game that Weber State lost all year.
-The Lumberjacks lead the overall series between the two teams 18-8 and 10-3 in Flagstaff, but Weber State has taken the four of the last five from NAU.
-Northern Arizona has been eliminated by Weber State in the Big Sky tournament the last two seasons.
-In a conference that's full of teams that serve tough, the 'Jacks are one of the toughest. Averaging 1.58 aces per set, NAU currently ranks third in the Big Sky with its serving.
-Taylor Jacobson is second in the Big Sky Conference in kills per set averaging 3.62.
-Jacobson is also second in the whole conference in aces per set, serving up .46 aces per set.
-Ryann Davis is one of the most efficient hitters in the Big Sky this season and is hitting a scorching .311%.
