'Cats Fall To Portland State 3-1
10/30/2021 10:26:00 PM | Women's Volleyball
On Saturday night, the (15-7, 10-2) Weber State Wildcats fell to the (16-7, 10-2) Portland State Vikings three sets to one in Portland, OR.Â
Heading into this game, both WSU and PSU were in a fight for first place as they've both been scorching hot throughout the majority of conference play. WSU's lone loss before Saturday's result was in their previous outing where they fell to Sacramento State - which marked their first loss to a Big Sky foe since March 7, 2021.Â
The opening set of the game was about as electric as the sport gets, the 'Cats were able to walk away from it victorious but not without a fight. When it came to an end, WSU had won 34-32 and took a 1-0 lead in the process.Â
From that point on, Portland State was able to take control and win the next three sets to eventually gift them the victory.Â
For the 'Cats, Rylin Adams and Dani Nay each hammered down 11 kills while Sam Schiess was right behind them with 10 of her own. Meanwhile - Ashlyn Power and Makayla Sorensen each notched three aces, Baylee Bodily finished with four blocks and Power helped record 39 assists while Sorensen had 17 digs.Â
Next, Weber State will look to put their recent outings behind them and will continue their road trip with a trip to Pocatello, ID to battle the Idaho State Bengals on Nov. 3, before a date with the Northern Colorado Bears on Nov. 6.Â
