Rivalry week has arrived in Ogden after Wildcat Volleyball beat Montana State and Montana last week. The Wildcats will be putting their school record 21 match winning streak on the line against two of their most heated rivals, the Idaho State Bengals and the Northern Colorado Bears. Thursday's match against the Bears will be a blackout, and all of Wildcat nation is encouraged to wear black.
WEBER STATE
-The Wildcats have won eight Big Sky consecutive matches dating back to the 2020-21 spring season.
-With wins over Montana State and Montana last week, Weber State extended its winning streaks over both schools to six games each.
-WSU currently trails the overall series against Idaho State 48-50, but the Wildcats have won the last four matches between the two teams.
-Weber State currently holds a 15-25 record against Northern Colorado, but the Wildcats have won the last three matches against the Bears.
-WSU and Northern Colorado have played each other in the last two Big Sky Conference championship matches, the Bears won the 2019 match in five sets, and Weber State won the 2020-21 championship in four sets.
-Ashlyn Power eclipsed the 5,000 career assists mark in WSU's win over Montana State, and is nine assists away from moving into fifth place in the Big Sky Conference all-time leaderboard.
-Dani Nay currently leads the entire nation in service aces (40), and is in third place nationally in aces per set (.73).
-Defending Big Sky MVP Rylin Adams leads the Big Sky Conference in kills (223) and kills per set (4.05).
IDAHO STATE
-Idaho State's defense is holding opponents to hitting just .179, which ranks as one of the best in the Big Sky Conference.
-With over 14 digs per set, the Bengals rank as the third best digging team in the conference.
-Asiah Sopoaga is third in the conference in digs per set (3.80).
-Rachael Driskell serves .41 aces per set which puts her in fourth place on the conference leaderboard.
NORTHERN COLORADO
-The Bears lead the Big Sky in attack percentage and are hitting .223 as a squad.
-Through four matches in conference play, UNC has only lost one set (vs. SUU on 9/30)
-Daisy Schultz leads the Bears and the Big Sky Conference in assists per set (9.72).
-After a week with 30 kills on a .462 hitting percentage, middle blocker Lauren Strain was named the conference's offensive player of the week.
