Wildcats host Concordia-St. Paul Thursday before opening regular season Tuesday.
It's almost time for basketball. The Weber State men's basketball team will play it's only tune-up game before beginning the 2021-22 season. The Wildcats will host Concordia-St. Paul Thursday night in an exhibition game.
The game will tipoff at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center. For the exhibition game there will be no online stream and no radio broadcast. Live stats will be available at WeberStateSports.com.
The Wildcats will tipoff the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, November 9 with a home game against Western Colorado.
Thursday's opponent Concordia University-St. Paul is a Division II school located in St. Paul, Minnesota, members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Golden Bears have already played one exhibition game. They lost 80-67 at Minnesota on Monday night in Minneapolis. The Golden Bears were 1-13 during the COVID-19 shortened season last year.
Concordia-St. Paul is the same school where Wildcat senior center Cody Carlson played for three years, before transferring to Weber State.
Weber State returns four starters and 10 players off last year's team that finished 17-6 and was second in the Big Sky at 12-3. Among the returning players is guard Seikou Sisoho Jawara who was named to the Big Sky preseason all-conference team. WSU also welcomed three Division I transfers in Koby McEwen (Marquette/Utah State), Jamison Overton (Utah Valley) and Dyson Koehler (Cal Poly).
The Wildcats were picked to finish second in the Big Sky preseason polls.
Head coach Randy Rahe returns for his 16th season at Weber State and is WSU's and the Big Sky's all-time leader in coaching wins.
The season opener will be on Tuesday, November 9 against Western Colorado. Weber State will have 15 regular season home games, including games against Utah State, BYU and Fresno State.
The 'Cats also play road games at Duquesne, Dixie State and Washington State, as well as three games at the Jersey Mike Classic in Florida.
The 'Cats will also face a 20-game Big Sky schedule with the conference tournament set for March 9-12 in Boise, Idaho.
