'Cats fall 69-43 to Fresno State in final non-conference game

Weber State hits the road to return to Big Sky play next week.
OGDEN - Fresno State built a huge early lead and handed Weber State a 69-43 loss Thursday afternoon at the Dee Events Center, in the final non-conference game of the season for the Wildcats.
How it happened
The Bulldogs never trailed in the game. Fresno State led 9-7 four minutes into the game before a huge run broke the game open. Over the next 10 minutes, the Bulldogs went on a 27-3 run, including a 14-0 stretch, and built a 36-10 lead with six minutes left in the first half.
Fresno State led 44-18 at halftime and knocked down eight 3-pointers in the first half. Weber State shot just 22 percent in the first half and was 1 of 10 from 3-point range.
The lead was never less than 24 points in the second half.
Numbers to know
Fresno State finished the game at 43 percent and held the Wildcats to a season-low 25 percent shooting. The Bulldogs were 11 of 23 from 3-point range, compared to 3 of 19 for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats were also outrebounded 38-29.
JJ Overton led the 'Cats with 12 points on 4 of 8 shooting and Koby McEwen added 10 points with a career-high eight rebounds. Dillon Jones had four points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Weber State is now 9-4 overall. After the Christmas break, the Wildcats will return to Big Sky Conference play with their next three games on the road, starting December 30 at Montana State and January 1 at Montana.
