WSU winning streak ends with 80-67 loss at Montana

MISSOULA, Mont. - Weber State saw its four-game winning streak come to an end as the Wildcats fell 80-67 at Montana Thursday evening in Dahlberg Arena.Â

Montana shot 52 percent from the field, the best any opponent has shot against the Wildcats this season, and UM held Weber State to a season-low three 3-pointers, finishing 3 of 14 from 3-point range.Â
Â
The 67 points is also the second fewest of the season for the Wildcats.Â

The Grizzlies jumped out to a quick 16-8 lead but the Wildcats responded with a 9-0 run and took their first lead at 17-16. Montana came back with a 12-2 run and never trailed again.Â

UM led 34-29 at halftime after holding WSU to just 34 percent shooting in the first half. The Wildcats cut the lead to five points at 47-42 but never got closer the rest of the way.Â

WSU had five players in double figures, led by Seikou Sisoho Jawara, the reigning Big Sky Player of the Week, who finished with 19 points on 8 of 13 shooting. Dontay Bassett added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds.Â

Isiah Brown had 12 points and five assists, Dillon Jones added 11 points and Zahir Porter had 10.

Kyle Owens scored 27 points to lead Montana, who improved to 9-9 overall and 5-6 in conference play.Â

Montana was 9 of 18 from 3-point range and finished 11 of 13 from the free throw line. The Wildcats were 20 of 25 from the line and both teams finished with 29 rebounds.Â

The loss drops Weber State to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in Big Sky play.Â
