Wildcats beat Bobcats 82-74 for fourth-straight win

OGDEN - After a win on Thursday, Weber State used a big second half run to beat Montana State 82-74 Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center.

The Wildcats improved to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in Big Sky play. WSU has won four-straight and eight of its last nine games.Â

Seikou Sisoho Jawara had a career-high 25 points in leading the Wildcats to the win. Jawara was 7 of 9 from the field, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range and 6 of 6 from the free throw line. He also had four assists and three rebounds in the win.Â

WSU led 37-33 at halftime but the Bobcats took a three-point lead at 51-48 with 12:25 to play. MSU led by five points at 60-55 with 7:26 to play when Weber State went on a 17-4 run over the next five minutes to take an eight point lead and never looked back.Â

The Wildcats shot 45 percent from the field, compared to 42 percent for the Bobcats. Weber State was 8 of 24 from 3-point range and the Wildcats were 28 of 30 from the free throw line. The 93.3 percent shooting is tied for the third best free throw percentage in school history.Â

WSU has also scored 80 or more points in seven of the last eight games.Â

Dontay Bassett tied his career-high set on Thursday with 17 points on 5 of 8 shooting and also had five rebounds and two blocked shots. Zahir Porter had 15 points with two steals and Isiah Brown had 11 points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists. Dillon Jones pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds off the bench.  Â

The Wildcats now return to the road for two games against Montana on Feb. 11 and 13 in Missoula. The next home series is scheduled for Feb. 18 and 20 against Northern Arizona.
