Weber State sweeps Montana State in battle of the 'Cats

OGDEN, UT - The Wildcats were in the zone for the second "battle of the 'Cats" on Sunday, March 21st. Weber State swept the Montana State Bobcats 3-0.
The Wildcats jumped on the Bobcats early in the first set, going up 10-3. Weber State had 4 aces in the first set, and completely dominated Montana State. Caroline Broadhead had 4 kills in the first set, with a .800 hitting percentage. Broadhead also served well, racking up three aces to give the Wildcats a big lead. Weber State took the first set 25-11.
Weber State continued to dominate the match in set two, and did a good job taking advantage of Montana State's weaknesses. The Wildcats also continued to do well serving, making it to eight aces in the match halfway through the second set. Weber State defeated Montana State to take the set point 25-18.
Montana State stepped it up in the third set, and did a much better job scoring points against the Wildcats. Halfway through the set the score was close, but Weber State persevered throughout the rest of the set and pulled away. The Wildcats wrapped up the last set, and the match, 25-20.
Weber State played well, earning a total of 10 aces, and 42 kills with a .370 hitting percentage. Seven of the aces came from Caroline Broadhead. The Wildcats are currently ranked first in the NCAA for aces in 3 sets at 17. Rylin Adams had the most kills for the 'Cats at 14 and a .333 hitting percentage. Caroline Broadhead had seven kills and a .857 hitting percentage.
Weber State finishes the regular season with a 15-1 record, the best WSU conference record in school history.
The Wildcats will return at the Big Sky Volleyball Conference Championships on March 31st. The tournament will be hosted by Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.
