Men's Tennis Takes 5-2 Win Over UC Riverside

Riverside, CA - WSU men's tennis defeated UC Riverside 5-2 this afternoon. 

In doubles play, Michiel Van Schoor and Kris Van Wyk swept Roth and Djakouris 6-0 in the No. 2 spot. Brendan Barr and Bo-Han Li fought hard and came close in the No. 3 spot but could not secure the point falling 7-6. Overall, UC Riverside secured the doubles point in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions gaining the early advantage. 

The Cats' had a great start in singles action as Arthur Serafim quickly secured the point in the No. 3 spot defeating J. Roth 6-2, 6-3. Michiel Van Schoor defeated his opponent in the No. 5 position 6-4, 6-2. Brendan Barr and Sebastian Buxman both played great matches against their opponents as they too earned the victory in the No. 5 and No. 2 spots. In the No. 1 spot, Kris Van Wyk went against Gilbert Chung 6-4, 5-1, and won by retirement. Overall, the Wildcats took the win 5-2 over UC Riverside. 

"This was a good week of tennis for us going 2-1 against strong California teams," said head coach Brad Ferreria. "We are now looking forward to playing our first home game Sunday against Air Force."

Sunday, March 14th the Weber State men's tennis will play their first home match at 10:00 a.m. against Air Force.
