History! Wildcats win first ever NCAA Tournament match

Weber State takes on No. 1 Wisconsin on Thursday.
OMAHA, Neb. - Weber State Volleyball made history Wednesday night as the Wildcats beat Bowling Green 3-1 for the first ever NCAA Tournament win.Â
"This is a huge day for Weber State Volleyball," said head coach Jeremiah Larsen. "I'm so proud of how our team handled the pressure. They just kept on grinding and responded well to adversity and had no quit. It was a really good team win."Â
It was just the second trip ever for the Wildcats in the NCAA Tournament and the first since 1988. It was also the first NCAA Tournament win by a Big Sky Conference school since 2007.Â
The Wildcats will advance to take on the No. 1 team in the nation, the Wisconsin Badgers Thursday at 5 p.m. in Omaha. The match will be streamed on ESPN3.Â
In Wednesday's match the Wildcats closed the first set on a 9-2 run to win the set 25-18. WSU hit .263 in the set and Dani Nay totaled seven kills.
WSU led in the second set before the Falcons rallied back to win 25-21 to tie the match.Â
Weber State responded with a 25-22 win in the third set and never trailed in the fourth set.
The Wildcats had a season-high 16 kills in the match.Â
WSU had three players in double figures in kills and two with double-doubles. Dani Nay led the way with 18 kills and 14 digs, along with three blocks. Big Sky MVP Rylin Adams had 14 kills and 11 digs and Sam Schiess had 11 kills, including the match winner, and hit .524.Â
Weber State now sits at 19-1 on the season and has won nine-straight matches.Â
