Wildcat football is sixth in Athlon Sports preseason ranking

Another top 10 preseason ranking for Weber State football. The Wildcats were slotted at No. 6 in the Athlon Sports Preseason FCS Top 25 rankings.

Weber State is coming off a 5-1 record in the spring 2021 season and the Wildcats captured their fourth straight Big Sky Conference title.

Head coach Jay Hill returns for his eighth season as head coach and WSU has three All-Americans and 13 All-Big Sky performers returning for the fall season.

Weber State is the highest ranked of five Big Sky Conference teams in the Athlon ranking. Montana State is ranked No. 8, Montana is 11th, UC Davis is 17th and Eastern Washington comes in at No. 19.

James Madison is ranked first, followed by North Dakota State, FCS champion Sam Houston, South Dakota State and Delaware.

The Wildcats open the 2021 fall season on Sept. 2 at Utah with the home opener set for Sept. 18 against No. 1 James Madison. The Big Sky schedule begins on Sept. 25 against UC Davis.
