Former Wildcat Jack Kelly selected by NY Giants in NFL Draft

Kelly played three seasons at Weber State from 2021-23, before transferring to BYU. He is the 39th player in WSU history to be drafted in the NFL.
Former Weber State football standout Jack Kelly is heading to the NFL.Â
Kelly was selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He was the 193rd selection overall.Â
He is the 39th former Weber State football player to be selected in the NFL Draft and the first since Taron Johnson in 2018.Â
The Kearns, Utah native spent three seasons in the Weber State program from 2021-23, before transferring to BYU.Â
He was a first-team All-Big Sky selection as a sophomore in 2023. That season, he led the Big Sky and was fourth in the nation in sacks with 10.5, tied for the fourth-most in a season in WSU history. He also led the conference and finished fifth in the country in forced fumbles with four, tied for the fifth-most in a season in WSU history. He was fifth in the Big Sky in tackles for loss with 12, and also had two fumble recoveries and an interception.Â
In his three years at Weber State, Kelly played in 28 career games and recorded 85 career tackles with 20 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks. He also had five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception. He finished his career ranked eighth in WSU history in career sacks and ninth in forced fumbles.Â
Kelly transferred to BYU following the 2023 season and played two seasons for the Cougars, where he earned All-Big 12 honors and was a team captain. He played in 25 games at BYU and recorded 15 sacks with 23.5 tackles for loss.Â
In his career at Weber State and BYU, he had 31.5 sacks and 43.5 tackles for loss. He also had nine forced fumbles and two interceptions.Â

Dontae McMillan signed as a free agent with the Baltimore Ravens. He played three seasons at Weber State from 2020-22 and twice earned All-Big Sky honors, including Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors during the spring 2021 season. He helped lead Weber State to two Big Sky titles and two trips to the FCS Playoffs.Â
McMillan rushed for 1,651 career yards and had 15 rushing touchdowns.Â
Weber State's Gavin Ortega signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos.Â

In addition to Kelly, two other former Wildcat running backs signed as NFL free agents. Damon Bankston also signed with the New York Giants. Bankston spent four seasons at Weber State before playing last season at New Mexico. He played in 38 games at Weber State from 2021-24 and twice earned All-Big Sky honors. He finished his career sixth in WSU history in career rushing yards with 2,324 yards and had 22 career touchdowns.Âfrom Utah to the big ??
