Big Sky Football Kickoff this weekend in Spokane

Football is in the air! The annual Big Sky Football Kickoff is this weekend in Spokane, Washington where coaches and players from all 13 schools will gather, July 24-26.Â
The four-time defending Big Sky Champion Weber State Wildcats will be represented by head coach Jay Hill and senior standouts Rashid Shaheed and Jared Schiess.Â
The Big Sky Kickoff will include interviews, videos, photos and more with coaches and players as well as league meetings and events.Â
Interviews on Monday, July 26 will be streamed live online on ESPN+ from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m Mountain time. Weber State's ESPN+ interviews will begin at 1:40 p.m. MT with coach Hill, followed by Shaheed and Schiess.Â
ESPN+ is the new streaming home for the Big Sky Conference and will stream more than 600 events throughout the conference this season.Â
Rashid Shaheed is making his second appearance at the Big Sky Kickoff, after also attending in 2019. Shaheed is a three-time All-American and three-time All-Big Sky first team performer. He has five career kickoff returns for touchdowns, the most in Big Sky history. He has appeared in 42 games with the Wildcats and has 3,975 all purpose yards.Â
Jared Schiess is a two-time All-Big Sky performer and returns as a senior on the defensive line for the Wildcats. Schiess has appeared in 47 career games at Weber State and has 136 career tackles with 23 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.Â
Head coach Jay Hill returns for his eighth season as head coach of the Wildcats. Hill has transformed the WSU program with four straight Big Sky titles and five straight appearances in the FCS Playoffs. He is 52-31 in his time at Weber State and ranks as WSU's all-time leader in Big Sky winning percentage and has the most conference wins in school history with 39. Over the last four seasons, Weber State is 29-3 against Big Sky Conference teams.
The Wildcats have won four straight Big Sky titles, including an outright title during the spring 2021 season.Â
Weber State returns four All-Americans and 13 all-conference performers off last year's team.Â
The Wildcats open the 2021 fall season on September 2 at Utah with the home opener set for September 18 against FCS powerhouse James Madison.Â
