WSU women begin homestand Monday against SUU

Weber State hosts three games this week, starting Monday at 6:00.
• Weber State women's basketball returns home to start a three-game home stand as the Wildcats host Southern Utah Monday night.
• The Wildcats and Thunderbirds will tipoff at 6 p.m. at the Dee Events Center. The game will be televised on ESPN+ with live stats available at WeberStateSports.com and the Weber State Wildcats mobile app.
• The Wildcats are 7-10 overall and 3-5 in Big Sky play. Weber State is coming off three-straight road losses over the last few weeks. Prior to that, the 'Cats won four out of six home games. WSU is 6-2 at home this season.
• Southern Utah is 9-6 overall and 5-1 in Big Sky play, currently second in the league standings. The Thunderbirds won their first five Big Sky games, before falling 80-60 at Idaho State on Saturday.
• As a team, Weber State ranks third in the Big Sky in scoring defense, giving up 63 points per game. The Wildcats are also third in free throw percentage at 76.9 percent and rank fourth in rebounding margin at +5.7.
• Individually, Daryn Hickok leads the Wildcats in scoring at 13.8 points per game, which is sixth-best in the Big Sky. She has scored in double figures 10 times this season. Hickok is also sixth in the conference in rebounding at 7.4 per game and is seventh in steals and eighth in free throw percentage.
• Jadyn Matthews is third in the Big Sky in rebounding, pulling down 9.0 rebounds per game. She is also 12th in the conference in scoring at 12.4 per game. She scored 20 points in last Thursday's game at ISU, her second time scoring 20 or more points this season. She has four double-doubles on the year and has scored in double figures 11 times.
• Emma Torbert is 15th in scoring at 11.9 and seventh in rebounding at 7.3 per game. She is also second in the conference in blocks at 1.5 per game and ranks sixth in steals.
• SUU leads the Big Sky and is 13th in the nation in rebounding margin at +9.5. The Thunderbirds are second in the conference in rebounds per game at 42.5, 28th best in the country. SUU is also first in the conference in scoring at 73.7 points per game and second in field goal percentage at 43.5 percent. The Thunderbirds are coached by Tracy Sanders who is in her third season as head coach.
• Southern Utah holds a 20-18 all-time series lead over Weber State and the Thunderbirds have won the last five games, including both games last season. In games in Ogden, Weber State is 12-7 all-time. This will be the final game in Ogden as a Big Sky game. Southern Utah is leaving the Big Sky after this season.
• Velaida Harris is in her fourth season as the head coach of at Weber State.
• The Wildcats will have two more home games this week, both played during the day. Weber State will host Northern Colorado on Thursday, January 27 at 11 a.m. and host Sacramento State on Saturday, January 29 at noon.
• The Big Sky Tournament will be held March 7-11 in Boise, Idaho.
