Wildcats Back in Action at the Air Force Invitational

This week, the Wildcats were back in action at the Air Force Academy Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after a few weeks off for the holidays and for COVID restrictions that canceled a meet at Idaho State.

Coach Corbin Talley had this to say about the meet this week, "after missing out on a meet last week due to some covid cases, it was nice to be in action this week. We shook off some rust, and we saw some strong performances.

Most notably were Cyrus Rindlisbacher winning the college division in the 60 Hurdles, Lachlan Burns finishing 3rd in the pole vault with a WSU #5 All-Time mark, Xakai Harry finishing 3rd in the High Jump, and Caleb Whitney finishing 4th in the Heptathlon.

I was also pleased with a few of our freshman — Connor Draper and Gauge Vielhauer."

As stated above by Talley, Cyrus Rindlisbacher placed second in the 60m hurdles with 8.03. He trailed behind an unaffiliated competitor, which gave him the first-place finish for the college division. Caleb Whitney had a sixth-place finish crossing the line at 8.29.

Whitney also had a fourth-place finish in the Heptathlon with a score of 5032-points.

Moving onto the field events where Harry's third-place finish in the high jump was a height of 6' 9". Harry also performed well in the long jump, where he jumped 22' 5.25" and finished sixth.

Johnnie Talamantes finished seventh in the long jump going 22' 4.50".

In the Pole Vault, Lachlan Burns finished third by clearing a mark of 16' 6.75".

"We have work to do, but this gives us a good starting spot. I know the guys are hungry to get on the track and field again next week," Talley said. The team will be back in action later this week in Seattle, Washington, on January 28-29 for the University of Washington Invitational.
