Wildcats fall 65-55 to Bears

OGDEN - Weber State rallied back from an early deficit but couldn't withstand a Northern Colorado run as the Bears beat the Wildcats 65-55 in a day game Thursday at the Dee Events Center.Â
How it happenedÂ
Northern Colorado was in control most of the game. The Bears led 26-21 at halftime and UNC led 46-36 with five seconds left in the third quarter when Kori Pentzer ended the quarter with a 3-point shot. That started a 14-0 run that gave Weber State a four-point lead with 4:28 to play.Â
The Bears responded with a 9-0 run of their own to regain the lead and knocked down free throws down the stretch to secure the win.Â
Key numbers
Northern Colorado shot 43 percent from the field and held the Wildcats to 33 percent shooting UNC made eight 3-pointers and outrebounded the Wildcats 38-32. Weber State forced 17 UNC turnovers but had just seven points off turnovers.Â
Daryn Hickok led Weber State with 17 points and 10 rebounds, her __ double-double of the season. Pentzer added 11 points and Jadyn Matthews had 10 points and nine rebounds. Emma Torbert recorded a career-high seven steals in the game, tied for the fifth-most in a game in WSU history.Â

The loss dropped Weber State to 7-12 overall and 3-7 in Big Sky play as they recorded their sixth-straight defeat.Â
