Wildcats Take First Of Two Saturday Matches

Las Vegas, NV - The WSU men's tennis team started their Saturday off strong by blanking UC Riverside 4-0 in the first of two matches scheduled at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The 'Cats will return to the courts later in the day against the University of Hawaii.
The 'Cats picked up their first win of four road matches this morning against UC Riverside. Weber State started with an early advantage earning the doubles point. Arthur Serafim and Jordan Coutinho defeated Nolan McCaig and Andreas Whelan-Merediz in the No. 1 spot, 6-3. Following their teammate's lead and securing the doubles point for the Wildcats, Tristan Sarap and Elyes Marouani took the upper hand against Joshua Roth and Justin Lamy, 6-4.
The Wildcats continued their strong play heading into singles. Tristan Sarap defeated Nolan McCaig 6-3, 6-1. Elyes Marouani took the upper hand against Joshua Roth 6-1, 6-4. Earning the 'Cats their final point, Arthur Serafim earned the victory against Daniel Velek 6-3, 6-4.
Bo-Han Li, Matteo Savio, and Jordan Coutinho went unfinished.
"It was good to get the first win of the year. Everyone played closer to their potential for the first time this year," said head coach Brad Ferreira.
Next up: The 'Cats play their final match of the UNLV Tournament Sunday against UNLV at 10 AM.
