Men's basketball set for three games at Vegas 4 Tournament

Weber State will take on UC Riverside Monday, Abilene Christian on Tuesday and Wright State on Wednesday.
• The Weber State men's basketball team is off to Las Vegas for three games at the Vegas 4 Tournament Monday-Wednesday.
• The Wildcats will play UC Riverside on Monday, November 21, Abilene Christian on Tuesday and Wright State on Wednesday at the tournament. All games will be held at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada.
• The games will be streamed online for a fee on BallerTV at ballertv.com. All three games will be broadcast on the radio on 103.1 FM "The Wave" with Steve Klauke on the call. Live stats links will be at WeberStateSports.com.
• Weber State enters the tournament with a 1-2 record. The Wildcats opened their 61st season of Division I basketball with a 69-52 loss at Washington. WSU defeated Western Colorado 83-67 on November 10, then fell lost 77-52 at Colorado State on Monday night. Weber State is playing six of its first seven and 10 of the first 13 games this season away from home.
• Sophomore forward Dillon Jones, a Big Sky all-conference performer last season, was named the Big Sky Player of the Week for his performance in the first three games of the season. Jones averaged 16.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game to lead the Wildcats. He also had double-doubles in two of the three games. He had 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in Thursday's win over Western Colorado. He followed that up with 20 points and 14 rebounds at Colorado State on Monday night. After three games, he leads the Big Sky in rebounding and assist and ranks third in the Big Sky in scoring.
• Weber State is under the direction of new head coach in Eric Duft who was named the 10th head coach in Weber State history in May. Duft replaced Randy Rahe who retired after 16 seasons as the head coach at Weber State as the Big Sky Conference's all-time leader in career wins and led the Wildcats to five Big Sky titles and three trips to the NCAA Tournament. Duft spent all 16 seasons as an assistant coach under Rahe.
• The Wildcats return five players off last year's squad and have eight new scholarship players this season, including four Division I transfers. New Wildcat transfer Steven Verplancken is second on the team in scoring at 11.0 points per game and Junior Ballard is next at 7.7 per game. Keith Dinwiddie and Handje Tamba are also Division I transfers on the Wildcat roster this season.
• Weber State was picked to finish fourth in the Big Sky preseason polls. The 'Cats finished 21-12 overall and finished in a tie for third in the Big Sky at 13-7.
• Weber State is 1-1 all-time against UC Riverside, 0-1 against Wright State and has never played Abilene Christian. WSU played UC Riverside twice in the same season in 2000-01, where they won in Ogden and lost in Riverside. WSU and Wright State met at the Gulf Coast Showcase in November 2019 in Florida, with Wright State winning 72-57.
• After the Vegas 4 Tournament, Weber State will be back on the road at Tarleton State on November 29, before returning home to host Utah Tech on December 3.
