'Cats are back home to host Utah Tech Saturday

Wildcats and Trailblazers meet Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
• After six of the first seven games away from home, the Weber State men's basketball team is finally back at the Dee Events Center as the Wildcats take on in-state opponent Utah Tech Saturday night. The Wildcats and Trailblazers will tipoff at 7 p.m. at the Dee Events Center.
• Weber State is 2-5 on the season and coming off a 75-65 loss at Tarleton State on Tuesday night. The 'Cats started the season with a road loss at Washington before a home win over Western Colorado. WSU lost at Colorado State, then played three games at the Vegas 4 Tournament last week.
• Utah Tech enters Saturday's game at 3-5 and like Weber State, has played just one game at home this season. The Trailblazers are coming off an 86-81 loss at Utah State on Thursday night. They have also played at Nevada, Washington, Arizona, Idaho and North Dakota this season. Utah Tech is coached by Jon Judkins who is in his 18th season as head coach at has 309 career wins.
• Weber State is third in the nation in free throw percentage at 82.1 percent. WSU is 115 of 140 from the line through the first seven games of the season and the Wildcats have led their opponents in free throw percentage in every game this season. The 'Cast have shot 80 percent or better from the line in five of the seven games.
• Dillon Jones had his third double-double of the season in Tuesday's game at Tarleton State as he finished with 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. He is currently third in the Big Sky in rebounds and seventh in assists. Steven Verplancken is Weber State's second-leading scorer at 11.9 points per game and is shooting 43 percent from 3-point range.
• Weber State and Utah Tech will be playing just their second ever game, since the Trailblazers moved to Division I. The Wildcats beat the Trailblazers 87-70 last November in St. George. WSU shot 57 percent from the field and made nine 3-pointers. Five Wildcats scored in double figures in the win.
• Utah Tech is a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Weber State is in the midst of a stretch of three-straight and four of five games against teams from the WAC. WSU played Abilene Christian in Las Vegas and then Tarleton State. After Saturday's game against Utah Tech, the 'Cats will play next Wednesday at California Baptist, also in the Western Athletic Conference. After that, Weber State will be home again next Saturday, Dec. 10 against Saint Martin's.
