Weber State closes out non-conference play at BYU Thursday

Wildcats have a three-game winning streak heading into Thursday's game in Provo.

• After an historic comeback win at Utah State on Monday, Weber State is back on the road for another in-state contest Thursday night at BYU. The Wildcats and Cougars will tipoff at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Marriott Center in Provo. The game will be televised on BYUtv with WSU radio coverage on 103.1 FM. 

• Weber State is 5-7 and comes into Monday's game with a three-game winning streak. The Wildcats are coming off a 75-72 win at Utah State Monday night in Logan, which handed the Aggies their first loss of the season. WSU trailed by 18 points in the first half and trailed 43-29 at halftime. Weber State started the second half on a 24-5 run and shot 59 percent from the field in the second half. For the game, the 'Cats shot 49 percent and knocked down 10 3-pointers. 

Dillon Jones, a preseason All-Big Sky selection, led the Wildcats in Monday's win with 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He is second in the nation in defensive rebounds per game at 8.6 and has six double-doubles on the season. Junior guard KJ Cunningham started the game and scored a career-high 11 points with three 3-pointers. Dyson Koehler had a season-high 12 points. 

• BYU is 9-5 on the season and comes into Thursday's game with a four-game winning streak. The Cougars are 17th in the nation in rebounding and 26th in rebounding margin. 

  

• Weber State has shot exactly 50 percent from 3-point range in each of the last three games, all Wildcat wins, and the 'Cats have made at least 10 3-pointers in each of those games. On the season, Weber State is now shooting 34.9 percent from 3-point range and averaging 7.5 per game. 

• Under new head coach Eric Duft, WSU is 4-0 this season when leading in field goal percentage and 1-7 when trailing. The 'Cats are also 5-0 when scoring 70 or more points and 0-7 when scoring under 70. WSU is also 4-1 when leading in rebounding and 1-6 when trailing. After leading the nation for much of the season, Weber State is now fourth in the nation in free throw percentage at 80.8 percent. 

• This will be the 48th all-time game between the two schools with BYU holding a 36-11 series lead. The Cougars have won three-straight and 18 of the last 19 games in the series. BYU is 22-0 all-time against Weber State in Provo. 

• Thursday's game will be the final non-conference game of the season for the Wildcats. Weber State will open Big Sky play on Dec. 29 at home against Northern Colorado and Dec. 31 against Northern Arizona.
